Charr

Charr is our handsome redfoot tortoise. We purchased him in August of 2017 from a local pet store at an age estimate of between 7-10 years. We were told that he originally came from the St. Augustine Alligator Farm.

It has taken Charr a little while to warm up to people. He doesn’t like unfamiliar places, like bathtubs or living room floors, and he does not like being cooped up inside. He will express his distaste by pooping everywhere.

If you have food, or if he thinks you might have food, he will often come stomping over to investigate. His favorite foods are kiwi, papaya, and red raspberries. He doesn’t like lettuce very much, even though he knows it’s good for him.

Charr loves stomping around and being outside. He loves to march in the rain and wallow in mud. He also enjoys the occasional butt scritches. If you are doing work in the yard, he will come over and supervise to see if you are doing it properly.

We named Charr after the lovesick Krogan of Mass Effect 1. If we ever get a female tortoise, we would like to name her Ereba or Rose.
